Update 2/6/14: Per Downey Animal Services, Browny has been adopted!

A sweet-natured, senior dog has been left at the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facility in Downey, Calif.

Browny is ten-years-old and she is locked away, waiting to be adopted, because her family moved and decided not to take her along.

At ten years of age, most dogs are enjoying their golden years in the company of their beloved guardians. Instead of enjoying a comfortable bed, quiet company and familiar, loving voices - Browny is in a lonely kennel run, surrounded by the anxious barks and cries of other impounded dogs.

There are no familiar voices, no touches from the hand of a treasured guardian...only loneliness and confusion.

The following information has been shared about Browny's personality:

Browny is an endearing ten year old brown and tan female German Shepherd/Jindo mix who was abandoned at the Downey Shelter on January 3rd because her former owners moved and made no provision for their pet of ten years. Weighing forty-four pounds, this honey walks well on leash and is likely housebroken. She is kissy, gets along fine with other dogs and we think she will make an exceptional pet for children. She is ten in years but not in demeanor and has a non-stop wagging tail and cheerful smile. Browny is a magnificent indoor pet for an individual or family living in a private home and would be an ideal companion for senior citizen.
