Heartbreaking end for owner of lost Ohio dog found dead from gunshot wound

Family and friends of a pit bull mix named "Sienna," who was lost back in January, are mourning her death today, reported Saturday's Fox 8 News.

Sienna's body was pulled from a Broadview Heights, Ohio, pond on Friday. The dog who had escaped from her yard on January 13, was dead from a gunshot wound to her chest.

Sienna, described as a "warm lap dog," was shot through the heart.

A Facebook page, "Bring Sienna Home," had over 700 followers - all people who were hoping for a better outcome for the dog who was beloved by her family.

Sienna's guardian, Paul Carpenter, wishes that whoever shot her would have picked up the phone, instead of a gun, stating:

It hurts more, that someone wouldn’t just pick up the phone and call the local police and say, ‘there’s a dog running around, can you take care of it?’”

“Cause then we would have found her, and we would have got her back.”

The local authorities are investigating the death. Sienna was still wearing her identification tags when she was found.
