Heart Truth starts off New York Fashion Week with star studded runway show (Video)

Joining in the campaign to make women aware of the importance of being heart healthy has become a tradition for the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week's annual February event. Yesterday, Feb. 6, the 2013 Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show showed female stars sashaying their designer red dresses down the runway at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City as an opener to New York Fashion Week.

The week of Fashion Week festivities begin with the Heart Truth Fashion Show

This show is a wonderful showcase featuring a star studded runway of famous women strutting their stuff dressed in beautiful red fashions. The red dress has become the symbol of women and heart disease. It is fitting to use the platform of the fabulous fashions of Fashion Week to begin the February event with an all out red extravaganza of designer fashions draped on the stars to bring awareness to the number one killer of women. Proceeds from the show go to assist in the fight of heart disease.

February is not just the month to celebrate red for Valentine's Day.

The month of February has also become the month that is now dedicated to bringing awareness to the crisis of heart disease that takes the lives of almost 500,000 American women every year, according to the American Heart Association "Go Red for Women" website. Feb. 1 has become the day to dress in red to bring awareness to the serious problems of heart disease particularly affecting women.

Wear your red fashions loudly and proudly as you strut your stuff down the runways of life. Stay healthy and beautiful, and never be afraid to dance!
