Heart statues, health awareness line Michigan Avenue

Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Columbia College teamed to bring awareness of cardiovascular disease to the Magnificent Mile during National Heart Month.

The campaign is titled Hearts a Bluhm from the hospital's Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute and brings 100 5-foot-tall heart statues to North Michigan Avenue. The statues, which are designed by artists from Columbia, have been placed in planters and will be on display through February.

Look closely, as there are hearts signed by Blackhawks' and Cubs' players and each one will have a heart health tip.

This month shoppers can enjoy unique artwork and learn about heart health as they travel, shop and dine on Michigan Avenue!
