Heart has released their stirring live performance of “Stairway to Heaven,” recorded at last month's Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zeppelin.
According to a news release posted yesterday at Heart’s official website, the veteran Seattle, WA rockers, fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, have reacted to the version's popular response on the Internet (4 ½ million hits and counting on YouTube) and made the song available for download on iTunes.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer 2013 inductees, who will tour Canada in March, had the opportunity to performing the iconic Zep song in Washington in front of surviving bandmembers and were joined onstage by late Zeppelin drummer John Bonham's son Jason.
Singer Ann Wilson posted, "I am so happy you all liked our performance of Stairway to Heaven at The Kennedy Center Honors event. It was our honor to be asked to do it before an audience like that. My main goal though was to please Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones...especially Plant, since all these many years he has taught me so much about singing from the soul and has given me such pleasure in his lyrics.
The download includes the complete version of the band’s performance as opposed to the edited version aired by CBS that is most widely available on the Internet.
The song is available for download now at iTunes.
The Wilson sister’s Canadian tour leg, in support of their latest studio album “Fanatic,”
kicks off on the west coast on March 9 in Penticton, BC at South Okanagan Events and wraps up on the east coast on March 25 in Montreal, QC at Bell Centre.
Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.ca and Evenko.ca.
