Heart rate and weight loss

Why is Heart Rate Important When Trying To Lose Weight?

If you use your heart rate correctly; one can avoid working out too hard or not hard enough. Loosing weight is not an Olympic sport it is a bodily reaction to supply energy to the working muscles. There are three different ways that your body can make energy and the only way you need to know is “burning” fat. This is done through an aerobic activity. Aerobic means through the use of oxygen; so you have to be doing something and still be able to breath. Breathing more efficiently will help your body burn fat.

The Karvonen formula calculates percent of Heart Rate through use of Resting HR and Age. It can assist you in finding weight loss zone (60 to 70% of Maximum Heart Rate) where oxygen intake should be constant and work is enough to produce an efficient weight loss effect.

The Karvonen Formula Looks like this:

206.9 - (0.67 x 23 (age)) = 191
191 - 65 (resting heart rate) = 126
126 * 60% (low end of heart rate zone) OR 70% (high end) = 75 OR 88
75 + 65 (resting heart rate) = 140
88 + 65 (rhr) = 153
The target heart rate zone for this person would be 140 to 153

Instruction would almost be a must if this formula was used; not only on the interpretation, but what should be done with the final product.

Here is an un-official easy formula that will put Heart Rate in weight loss range, but not perfectly.

Information needed : 60% of Maximum Heart Rate and 70% of Maximum Heart Rate

Age = 23

220 – (Age: 23) = 197 = Maximum Heart Rate

197/ 2 = 99 = 50% of Maximum Heart Rate

99 + 19.7 (10% of Maximum Heart Rate) = 120 = 60% of Maximum Heart Rate

120 + 19.7 = 140 = 70% of Maximum Heart Rate

Now ADD 15 to your final numbers

120 + 15 = 135

140 + 15 = 155

Heart Rate Range = 135 – 155

Check the totals of both problems and you can see that there is not much difference. Using a Heart Rate Monitor is the most individual and efficient way to stay in weight loss zone. If you have any questions please feal free to e-mail me at Wordplaypirate@gmail.com
