Heart in a Cage

Yesterday was a day of celebration, a historic day as we witnessed marriage equality come to pass in New York, as it should in New Jersey, as it should in every state where homosexuality is viewed as something you have to explain, something you have to keep in chains.

It was a historic day but it was not a great day, that day will come. That day will come when a "fight" is not needed, no rallies, no campaigns, no more strain for freedom, only easy acceptance, or perhaps something more. Perhaps homosexuality and Gay marriage don't need to be accepted, perhaps they just need to be, freely, commonly along with all the other ways of being that just are.

No we have not yet seen that great day, that day that will come when a Gay Marriage isn't headline news and when explanations are ludicrous, because you don’t need to explain the known. When homosexuals are free not because of shattered chains, but because those chains never met the flesh and held us back, never held all of us back, gay and straight. I'll tell you now and finally, that great day comes when homosexuals are free not because they had to make it so, but rather because it is how we are all meant to be.
