Healthy ways to stay safe in the wintery next few days

Over the duration of tonight and tomorrow, we are expected to get more snow and the city has the snow plows and salt trucks out already. We are set to get a heavy amount of snow and there is a special weather statement issued.

This is the time when you have to really be cautious while driving and while walking. You have to be alert and conscious, pay full attention to the road and the weather conditions. While driving, leave a lot of space between you and the other vehicle ahead. If you happen to see someone on a bike, yes there are people riding their bikes still even in this weather, try to leave a lot of space between you and the bike if you are trying to pass them. In this weather, people on bikes could fall at any moment so you want to be as far away from them as you can so it prevents a fatality.

Buy the regular tools for your car for the winter weather such as a car brush and scraper, “you will definitely need that” quoted from a friendly Police Officer today at Canadian Tire just north of Toronto. Make sure your car is filled up with gas at all times. You do not want to be stuck in stop and go traffic with only a quarter tank left in your tank because traffic is unpredictable, you may be there for a while and do not want to run out of gas in this weather. Top up your windshield washer fluid and have an extra container in your vehicle.

Drive smart, do not drive dangerously. Do not tailgate people, watch for pedestrians crossing, and drive slower and more cautiously. Do not drink and drive or do drugs and drive, in other words, do not drive impaired.
