Valentine's Day is just a day away, and many Columbus children are looking forward to school celebrations and tasty treats. However, many Valentine's gifts include sugary, fatty and high calorie foods, which are not so healthy.
Here are some healthier gift ideas for your little Valentine.
- Super Hero Sucker: Use fabric scraps, cardstock or construction paper to fashion a super hero cape and mask and attach to a large sucker. Suckers have about 50 calories and last longer than a bite of chocolate.
- Book and bookmark. Make a bookmark from cardstock, patterned paper, felt, fabric or ribbon. Add an inexpensive book purchased from Goodwill Columbus.
- Pay for a new activity, sporting equipment or class for your child, such as a skating lesson, a trip to the rock climbing wall or a new glove for playing catch.
- If your little one is an artist, pick up some new art supplies. Think outside the boring paints and stickers and try some new ideas, such as colored sand, weaving looms and clay.
