As we kick off 2013 and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, the DVCC is making strides yet again. The first Teen Rally of the new year will be on Friday, Feburay 8, 2013 from 5-7pm. This event will be held at the Terry Fregly Community Center, at 2940 Grady Road, in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Tallahassee Housing Authority is teaming up with the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council of Tallahassee, to help promote healthy relationships. This is such a great time to talk about relationships since February is home of the famous Valentine’s Day and is slated as the month of love.
We see hearts, flowers and candy and in some cases, this may be a part of the honeymoon stage in the cycle of violence. Everyone can lend their hands and hearts to end this cycle. This month is one set aside to bring awareness to the plight of teens dealing with violence in their lives. However, this can be a month of new beginnings…one of love and respect. First love and respect yourself and know that you are worthy of this, and then realize that everyone is meant to be loved and treated with respect no matter if you’re a teen or an adult.
So, invite friends and classmates out to the Teen Rally where there will be prizes, free pizza and drinks, not to mention live music with DJ Dewight Dee and DJ Sly. The event is free, so come one and come all. For more information, please call (850) 325-2303 or (850) 222-3845.
