Healthy meals for kids

The New Year brings with it making New Year’s Resolutions. A New Year’s Resolution is a certain change that can be made in an individual’s life to better themselves. What is a better resolution to make than changing the eating habits of an entire family? Here are a few suggestions for the whole family to eat healthier:
1) Eating chicken and fish is the healthiest.
Even though using ground beef can be more cost effective,
2) Try to stick with the food groups when cooking.
This can come from lots of effort from the cook.
3) Hide fruits and vegetables without any picky eaters finding out.
Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is a very healthy habit, but not very practical for those picky eaters. Most children are not fond of any food that has grown naturally. There are many pasta companies that are making their products with “Hidden Veggies”. Smoothies can also disguise many healthy fruits.
4) Make meals with only whole grains when possible.
Don’t keep any white bread in stock only wheat and whole grains. Enriched flour is very unhealthy and not natural
5) Homemade lunches are usually the healthier than bought lunch.
School lunches are not usually the healthiest. It takes more time and costs a little more, but fresh homemade meals are a better choice than lunch choices at a school.
6) Try to cook with less butter, oil, salt and sugar.
Home cooked meals are very important for the entire family to be healthy and consist of only good items. It is easy to cook with butter, oil, salt and sugar, but is it always the best to use? There are healthy alternatives to these items. For example, applesauce can be used instead of oil for most cakes.
