A new year brings new opportunities for adopting healthier habits and Akron General wants to help you achieve those goals with a free Healthy Lifestyles Educational Lecture set for Tuesday, January 10 at the Akron General Health & Wellness Center at 6:00 p.m.
The Healthy Lifestyles Educational Lecture Series features important health topics including physical fitness and nutrition. During the event you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and get information from a registered dietitian and fitness expert. The Health and Wellness Center provides a list of topics and descriptions available for those who plan to attend.
The January 10 lecture is titled: Fire Up Your Metabolism- The Role of Strength Training and Metabolism.
He first half of the lecture will focus on nutrition and the second half will focus on fitness. If you plan on exercising more, eating better and want to understand how these components affect your metabolism this is a lecture you’ll want to attend.
Metabolism relates to how your body takes foods you eat and turn it into energy to fuel your body. It has an effect on how you lose and gain weight. There are many elements that can affect your metabolism including age, sex and muscle mass. Having a better understanding on how metabolism affects your body may help you stick to healthier habits and help you set goals throughout the year.
The Healthy Lifestyles Educational Lecture Series by Akron General Health & Wellness will feature additional free lectures to provide ongoing information to help you reach your personal goals.
