School has started again in Las Vegas and it is time to start preparing lunches on the go again. Parents are often preached to about healthy eating habits for their children, but what about healthy drinking habits? What your child drinks each day can drastically affect their weight and calorie intake, and not to mention, can lead to some expensive dental work in the future.
Stick to these basics to ensure your child’s healthy fluid intake.
- Water and Milk. These are both very essential and by far the best choice for kids. Nothing will replenish and energize your kid like water, and the calcium in milk is dire for healthy bone growth.
- 100% Juice. Most juices are loaded with sugar and other processed, artificial ingredients. It’s important to only serve 100% juice to ensure your child receives all the yummy benefits of vitamins without the sugar.
- Cut the soda. Even though it may be your child’s favorite drink, sodas are loaded with sugar and caffeine, and have zero nutritional value. Not only are they taking the place of healthier options, but they can also cost you an arm and a leg when you’re paying to fill in cavities! It’s best to save it for special occasions only.
