A healthy choice for dinner

Healthy Shellfish: Source

Lobster and clams are a healthy part of a balanced diet. They offer low fat and low cholesterol nutritional values. If dinner is served steamed or boiled and by substituting lemon juice for butter or breadcrumbs, you have a win-win heart healthy, gourmet meal. It's also a good source of lean protein.

Lobster and clams contain some healthy Omega-3 fats (not as much as salmon) to help keep heart health on track. These fats lower triglyceride levels and prevent blood clots. Along with heart healthy benefits comes a boost for the brain as well. It's been reported that the Omega-3 fatty acids help prevent depression and Alzheimer's disease.

By providing lots of vitamins and minerals such as A, B-vitamins, D and high values of iron, calcium, magnesium, shellfish offer one of the better dietary sources necessary for avoiding sickness and disease.
