By now, we’ve already heard about the 1.25 billion chicken wings and 8 million pounds of guacamole that Super Bowl viewers will be chowing down on this Sunday. But if you’re looking for something lighter so you can dance to Bruno Mars’ halftime show or not have to Monday Morning Quarterback your food choices, here are a few ideas to lighten the snack load.
Popcorn, Indiana Fit Popcorn: The line of better-for-you popcorn has 40 calories or less and 2 grams of fat per cup. It’s also gluten free and made from non-GMO corn. And it’s way better than that nasty air-popped stuff. It also comes in a bunch of flavors: Sea Salt, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, Onion Dijon, Real Butter, and Parmesan & Herb – our favorite.
Kind Dark Chocolate Chili Almond bars: The folks at Kind came up with a great game-day idea for a sweet snack. Cut up their new Dark Chocolate Chili Almond Bar into small squares and top each piece with a dollop of queso fresco for a sweet, salty and spicy combo. And since the entire bar has only 5 grams of sugar, each little nugget is a good low-sugar treat.
Popchips Veggie Chips: The upstart chip maker has come out with a line of veggie chips, which contain a blend of nine garden vegetables. The veggie chips, which just came out this month and are 100 calories per serving, come in three flavors -- Sea Salt, Hint of Olive Oil and Tuscan Herb. And since they are flavored you won’t need any dip.
