Healthcare Game Definitely Not Over
We may yet do it. This game is not over and if you live in the DC area go to Capitol Hill today to voice your opposition to the healthcare bill. If you live elsewhere, continue calling, faxing and e-mailing. The latest whip count
from Firedoglake puts the bill here:

About 10,000 people came to the Hill on Saturday for the Code Red rally according to those who attended. (I did not get down until later in the evening). Some friends attended a second, impromptu rally on the Capitol steps with a number of Congressmen for a few hours in the evening. Their advice for Sunday (today) was: show up! Members of Congress were shocked at the size of Saturday’s impromptu rally and it had an impact. They say do not let up. We should continue calling, faxing and e-mailing.
The schedule for today is as follows:
At 11 am there will be a church service in the Capitol Rotunda. This is the first church service held there in 100 years. House floor proceedings will begin at 1pm and the vote is at 2pm (as of now.)
I sat in the House gallery last night until almost midnight. A number of Republican members had stepped up to the podium and the last hour was taken by Louie Gohmert. He was clearly tired but made a last minute impassioned plea to the Democrats to forego
this destructive legislation.
Who knows, some may listen…

So, are you fascists going to show up again and hurl racist and homophobic slurs against members of Congress? You're just a bunch of degenerates.
Yes Scarlett, we'll be there.
Scarlett, when public officials treat the American public the way they have, they shouldn't be surprised when citizens retaliate. While I don't agree with anyone hurling racial or gay comments, the Democrats have laid the groundwork for these confrontations. And I'm still waiting for independent verification that these incidents actually occurred. Sadly, it sounds like another political trick to try and gain sympathy for the Dems handiwork.
Because they're not following a conservative agenda, which is basically to do nothing while the health care system implodes?
Sorry, this bill will pass because it's necessary, reasonable and right. Don't you think Obama would prefer a one-payer system? He compromised. You are just sour grapes lying on the ground.
hey scarlet,
the fascists are all on your side of this debate, the people who actually want to pass this thing. but you fascists aren't alone either, you've got marxists, communists, union thugs, left wing environmentalist wackos, and much more. So you are in good company.
soviet
James, It IS over. News agencies are reporting that Democrats have more than 216 votes.
The fascists, such as Hitler, practiced the same racial politics as you do. Obama is not a fascist, but a moderate liberal. Your rantings have nothing to do with healthcare. I'm glad the bill is going to pass.
The truth about the demonstrators yesterday.

Who is degenerate? I'd say those who accuse falsely, inflaming tensions. That always leads to undesirable outcomes Scarlett.
Even if Dems get 216, the sidebar "fix" has to be passed and sent to the Senate where there will be changes, more votes, a continuous circus. This is far from over. Actually, I hope the Dems pass this atrocity. In so doing, they seal their fate, and the President cripples himself in the eyes of the people.
FYI, did you guys read where the treasurer in Massachusetts (a Dem I think) claims ObamaCare will bankrupt the country. How are you going to provision healthcare from a pile of rubble?
The good guys have won - the Dems got the votes!
A victory for America - A victory for social justice!
Enjoy the increased taxes and premiums over the next four years before any of the supposed benefits kick in. I suspect Mona and Scarlett are welfare recipients and looking for a free ride from hard working, tax paying citizens. We have families of our own to support, we don't need to be footing the bill for people like you.
We will never get the Health Care promised in the "talking points". We will get the increases taxes, increased premiums for the full four years. Sometime between now and then there will be a revisiting of the issue. The result of that will be that no one gets the promised payoff, but they will still be forced to pay into the system. This has nothing to do with "social justice", a buzzword for communism, nor does it have anything to do with health care. It is simply about the government retaining control of the voting block that relies on redistributed wealth for their daily bread. If the checks stop, the houses of Congress fear a real, physical uprising that could cause them harm more actual than just diselection. Why? Because they stole the money that has already been paid in and when the checks stop the people will demand an accounting that they now are too apathetic to do.
This is simply about (cont)
(cont) increasing the revenue stream to retain their power and their hides until they can figure a way out of honoring these new promises.
Bottom line, we will not get National Health Care, we will get a bill for it.
God's favor and the Sovereign People of the United States of America will win this war.
Conventional wisdom has "undecideds" at such a late hour going with their party leadership -- however, so much pressure has already been applied to them that the opposite may be true in this case. If they have held out this long, they seem to have a big problem with Obamacare.
So you're wrong, Simpson, it is over. A great day for America. And yo, James C., I pay a lot more taxes than you, but I'm glad to pay them so people can go to the doctor. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, taxes are the price we pay for civilization. You creeps didn't understand it then, or in 1965, or now. Elections have consequences, whether you like it or not.
Scarlett, glad you referenced 1965. Without the support of Republicans, Johnson would not have been able to push any major legislation through. Who was standing in the schoolhouse doorway preventing black children from entering? A Democrat. Which senator currently serving was a high ranking official with the KKK? Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd. It appears you're the one hanging out with creeps. Check your history.
