One professional player and past MVP who takes a natural approach to healthy living is Steve Nash of The Phoenix Suns, another point guard. He is one of the NBA’s most respected players. Energy Times Magazine did an article on him discussing his healthy lifestyle and lasting pro basketball career. The article notes much of Nash’s success comes from his diet, supplementation and fitness regimen.

For joint health Steve Nash deals with a whole-food supplementation program including glucosamine, chondroitin, yucca powder and a form of organic nutritional sulfur. He also includes an anti-inflammatory supplement that combines amino acids, wheat germ, vitamin C from acerola cherry and a blend of nutrient-freeing enzymes. Steve Nash just turned 37 and he has his own fitness centers, Steve Nash Sports Clubs fitness center in Canada. In his interview with Energy Times Magazine Steve stated that he was raised to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet and today he tries to avoid processed foods and refined sugars. He eats more fruits, vegetables, lean fish or consciously raised chickens, along with raw nuts and legumes. He says he drinks a protein and berry shake for breakfast and fresh fruit throughout the morning. As an athlete Nash patterns his supplementations according to his training and the basketball season. He says “My supplementation program changes depending on whether I am in training or perhaps recovering from an injury during the season; then I will use a different combination of supplements to focus on that particular health concern.”

Steve Nash says fitness is a lifestyle for him and he continues to work out even during off-season. He enjoys working out. He is also a father and interested in child welfare, health issues and environmental causes.

Steve Nash is one pro athlete who is a good example to follow for living healthy and following preventative health measures.
