Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases in the U.S. and one you can prevent or control. A panel of healthcare providers including wound care experts and FHN’s Diabetes Education Program Coordinator will talk about diabetes at FHN’s March Speaker Series event.
There is no charge to attend the event, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at FHN Family Healthcare Center – Burchard Hills, 1010 W. Fairway Drive, Freeport.
FHN surgeon Rafael Castro, MD, FACS, WCC, medical director of The Center for Wound Healing at FHN, and podiatrist Roland Tolliver, DPM will talk about the prevention and treatment of wounds caused by diabetes and how to successfully treat persistent wounds caused or aggravated by diabetes
FHN dietitian Nicolette Drane, RD, LDN, CDE will discuss how to tell if you are at risk of developing diabetes and how your diet can help manage – or even prevent or delay – the condition. She will have healthy recipes to share.
This presentation is for anyone concerned about their risk of contracting diabetes or with a family history of diabetes, as well as diabetics who want to better manage their condition, or who have chronic and persistent foot or leg wounds.
