On this Valentine’s Day don’t wait to take care of your health. Antelope Valley Hospital will offer a free community health lecture on Chronic Disease Self-Management, hosted by Don Parazo M.D. at 6:30 p.m. today in the AV Outpatient Imaging Center, 44105 15th Street West, Lancaster, in conference room 15 on the fourth floor.
Dr. Parazo is a family practitioner who specializes in geriatrics, and a member of the AVH medical staff. Discussion topics will provide information on how to manage chronic health conditions, improve communication with medical personnel, and reduce the condition’s impact on daily life.

After school tutoring and homework help available
After school tutoring and homework help administered by Math Magicians will be available for students in grades second through eighth from 3 – 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at its new location in the Marie Kerr Park Recreation Center, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale.
The fee is $180 per session with sessions held now - March 1; March 4 - 28; and April 1 – 26, 2013.
This program provides students with homework assistance, tutoring in weak areas, and enrichment activities including development of higher-level thinking skills through project based learning, public speaking, technology and writing. Additional activities include hand-on science investigation, music and art appreciation, and more.
Participants may register online or at the parks and recreation office, 38260 10th St. East, Palmdale between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information call the parks and recreation office at (661) 267-5611.
