Health care reform and the 'public option.'

Well, now what?

Our pals in Washington are are now battling over whether or not a public option will be, should be or could be on the table. Senator Grassley (R-IA) says it's gone.

But you also need to realize that what is being called a 'public option' keeps changing shape. If you think back, when it was first being discussed, it sounded like that was going to be the be all, end all solutions to all that ails in our system. From all I've heard, from people highly interested on health care reform at the state and national level, President Obama's position on health care reform has never been to go exclusively to a single payor, government run system. It was always to be a combination of public and private options.

But just about the time you think all hope is lost, Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) thinks it will happen before the end of the year.

So stay tuned; this isn't going to be quick, and it isn't going to be pretty.
