Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Cinnamon is good for anti-inflammatory needs. As many people eat sometimes fried or processed foods these items can cause inflammation of internal tissues and organs. This is a great thing considering cinnamon can be used in our coffee, or even to put on a piece of lightly buttered toast. A small amount of cinnamon can be added with ease to things we eat every day.

According to a study from VIT University in India, it was examined that cinnamon helped diabetic rats and showed that cinnamon bark is helpful to reduce after meal high blood sugar levels. After a meta-analysis and a variety of clinical studies, it showed that cinnamon does indeed lower blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 diabetes.

Another way to receive health benefits from cinnamon is by using it to reduce cold and flu symptoms. Cinnamon oil and powder can be used to reduce these symptoms by simply adding one to two teaspoons of ground cinnamon to a hot cup of green tea or cider. Add lemon juice to help with respiratory infections as well.

Healthy juicing suggests that cinnamon is also helpful to boost brain activity and brain function. It helps the mind by simply smelling or tasting the spice.

While cinnamon is a tasty treat to add to various foods and hot beverages it is also important to make sure that you are not allergic to cinnamon.
