Acai berries are being deemed as the new superfood. Will they be able to hold up to their new reputation? Acai berries are being marketed in cosmetics and beauty products as a cure all. They are said to have anti-aging and weight loss properties.

The acai berry by nature is a purple fruit. It grows in central, and South America having dark purplish fruits, and is a relative of the blueberry and cranberry.

Acai berries have anthocyanins are in foods and are responsible for the red, purple and blue fruits in many vegetables and flowers. Many foods that are strong in color are blueberries; red grapes, red wine, and acai are higher in antiodoxidants.

To neutralize the body of free radicals which may interfere with the aging, and disease process you need to eat a diet rich in antioxidants.
