According to Abiresearch, they saw 38 percent of the smartphone downloaded apps were that of some type of health app and are predicting to see the fitness app market grow from $12 million in 2010 to $40 million by 2016. Therefore, over the next three years, we may see nearly a billion downloads. Depending on the effectiveness of these apps, we may also see doctors recommending apps to their patients. One example of a great app is Loseit.com. This app will track your food, calories, activities and etc. This app has gotten a lot of buzz, it’s free, and easy to download to your cell phone or tablet.

Self-Monitoring – This takes us to one of those apps we talked about are becoming such a craze. This type of monitoring will keep track of your day-to-day activities. You can track what you eat, your moving activities throughout the day, and your sleep. If you get the right app, you’ll be able to monitor your progress and download the data into a spreadsheet so you’re able to analyze your progress. Workout Classes Go Mobile – Yes, some of your favorite workout classes are going mobile, whether it’s through a fitness studio, gym membership, or a popular celebrity fitness guru teaching the class.
