Now more than ever, Americans are trying to become more health conscious. With shows like the Biggest Loser inspiring people to lose weight, become more active and fit, in conjunction with fitness and dance programs being instituted in schools and communities across the nation. If anyone watches TV, Fox's show So You Think You Can Dance inspired not only "National Dance Day" but also the creation of the Dizzy Feet Foundation. That being said, the city of Walnut Creek has plenty to offer in the way of fitness clubs, but in addition, the Bay Area has a series of charity events that are for great causes AND inspire fitness awareness.
Featured Club in the Area:
Walnut Creek Sports & Fitness Club - for those looking for an uncrowded, personal touch health club with lots of options and a great staff, you should check them out! Take a tour - can't hurt right?
Events in the Bay Area:

More and more, there are events to build the character and confidence in young women. A great organization is the Girls on the Run of the Bay Area. Check out their celebratory 10th birthday celebration:
"Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is turning 10 this year, and we have a very special guest helping us celebrate!
We'll celebrate our 10th birthday at our fundraising dinner with special guest -- USA Soccer player, Olympian, author & philanthropist -- BRANDI CHASTAIN.
Celebrate our milestone and help Girls on the Run of the Bay Area make an impact on even more girls in our community as we educate & build confidence in young girls through non-competitive, curriculum-based running programs."
This is a fundraiser versus a fitness event, but this is a great program that I would encourage anyone that has the time and/or money to help contribute to, whether it's time, coaching, or donating money.

Diabetes is a serious disease afflicting many in our nation and the world, especially children. The Napa Valley Tour de Cure is a great event. Their purpose is to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
