Heading to Vegas for 2013 NASCAR action? Check this out

The third race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season takes the teams out to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Thursday through Sunday, March 7th through 10th. The Nationwide Series is also on the schedule for the weekend.

The week begins on Wednesday and Thursday, March 6th and 7th, with action at the neighboring Dirt Track at LVMS featuring the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. Gates open both nights at 5 p.m. PT with racing getting underway at 6 p.m. PT. Get more information on the Dirt Track here.

If you want to stick to asphalt all weekend, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Hauler Parade takes place Wednesday night at 6 p.m. PT on Las Vegas Blvd. The Cup Series has two practice sessions schedule on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. PT; ticket gates open at 8 a.m. That night at Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino, the Speedway Children’s Charities NASCAR Driver Auction takes place at 5 p.m. PT. Thursday’s practice session is open free to the public.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. PT on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s on-track action gets underway at 9 a.m. PT with Nationwide Series practice, followed by Cup Series practice at noon PT and a second round of Nationwide practice at 1:40 p.m. PT. Qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 400 takes place at 3:40 p.m. PT. On Saturday, the Cup Series practices at 9 and 11:35 a.m. PT, with Nationwide Series qualifying for the Sam’s Town 300 sandwiched in between at 10:05 a.m. PT; at 1:15 p.m. PT, the Sam’s Town 300 takes the green flag.

On Sunday, gates open at 7 a.m. PT, with a Speedway Children’s Charities track walk at 8:30 a.m. PT; the Kobalt Tools 400 goes green at noon PT. Following the Cup Series race, the US Legend Cars International Series races on the infield oval (approximately 3:30 p.m. PT).

Tickets are still available for the Kobalt Tools 400 weekend at LVMS – tickets for Friday practice and qualifying are $25 (children 5 and under are free), tickets for Saturday’s Nationwide Series race range in price from $30 to $41, and tickets for Sunday’s Cup Series race range in price from $49 to $176.
