Racing’s “off-season” is finally over: the Rolex 24 at Daytona takes place this weekend, Thursday through Sunday, January 23rd through 26th at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. This year marks the 52nd running of the famed 24-hour endurance race, but the first time under the banner of the new TUDOR United Sports Car Championship series, the merging of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the American Le Mans Series.
Fans can check out the Boardwalk Experience by Strates Shows of Orlando, featuring a 150-foot high Ferris Wheel (the largest on the East Coast), and the huge TUDOR Sports Car Championship autograph session prior to the big event on Saturday morning in the Sprint FAN ZONE. For the racing foodies, there’s a Wine and Cheese Party on Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. ET in the Cafe 24 Activity Zone and the Taste of the 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. ET in the Backstretch Suites. Those looking to prepare in advance for the afternoon and evening full of great food might want to check out the Daytona 5K Run and Fun Walk, also on Saturday morning.
On-track action begins Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET with practice for the TUDOR series, the IMSA Ferrari Challenge and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, followed by qualifying for all three series in the afternoon. There will be more practice and qualifying on Friday, as well as the first Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend at 10:30 a.m. ET and the Continental Tire Challenge Daytona Rising 200, beginning at 1:45 p.m. ET. The second Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend goes green at 9:35 a.m. ET on Saturday morning, followed by the start of the Rolex 24 at 2:10 p.m. ET. For the complete weekend schedule, click here.
Tickets for the Rolex 24 at Daytona are still available: four-day passes – including infield and general admission grandstands access, daily garage and Sprint FANZONE access and Budweiser Party porch access on Saturday – are just $85, and kids 12 and under are admitted free all weekend.
