The MudSummer Classic returns to Eldora this week

35 teams are on the entry list for this year’s 1-800CarCash MudSummer Classic, the second annual Camping World Truck Series race on dirt. The event takes place Wednesday, July 23rd at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio and promises to be just as exciting as last year’s inaugural race.

The historic half-mile clay oval, owned by three-time Cup champ Tony Stewart, has 24-degree banking in the turns and 8-degree banking in the straightaways. The one-lap record for the track is 12.707 seconds, set by World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series driver Craig Dollansky in 2002. Eldora Speedway has 17,782 permanent seats, plus “unlimited” seating on the hillside.

Among the out-of-series drivers on the entry list for the race: Ken Schrader, who won the pole for last year’s race, Austin and Ty Dillon, Michael Annett and Kyle Larson.

On-track action kicks off with the Tuesday Night Tailgate on Tuesday, July 22nd, with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m. ET. A special Sunoco American Late Model Series race takes place on Tuesday, with hot laps at 6:15 p.m. ET and the green flag at 7:30 p.m. ET. Following the Late Model race, there will be a post-race party in the Fan Zone beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET.

On Wednesday, July 23rd, spectator gates open at 9:30 a.m. ET, with Truck Series practice from 10 to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET; Truck Series qualifying takes place at 5:10 p.m. ET. The Eldora Late Models hit the track at 6 p.m. ET, with Truck Series heat races (five races, 10 laps each) going green at approximately 7 p.m. ET. The Late Models return to the track for their feature at approximately 7:50 p.m. ET, followed by the 15-lap Truck Series “Last Chance” Race at approximately 8:15 p.m. ET. The 1-800 CarCash Mudsummer Classic, in three segments of 60, 50 and 40 laps, is scheduled to go green at 9:05 p.m. ET.

Off-track events on Wednesday include a Q&A session with track owner Stewart along with Bryan Clauson and Bobby East at 2:50 p.m. ET at the Chevrolet Performance Display in Fan Zone, plus a tweet-up with “The Orange Cone” and “NASCARcasm” at 4 p.m. ET at the base of the suites in the Fan Zone.
