The “off-season” is finally over: the Rolex 24 at Daytona is this weekend, Thursday through Sunday, January 24th through 27th at Daytona International Speedway. There will be over 2,000 miles of action featuring 70 championship drivers from 25 countries, plus plenty for fans to do away from the action as well.
Fans can check out the Midway by Strates Shows of Orlando, featuring a 150-foot high Ferris Wheel (the largest on the East Coast), and the huge GRAND-AM autograph session prior to the big event on Saturday. For the racing foodies, there’s a chili cook-off on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. ET, followed by a Wine and Cheese Party on Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. ET and the Taste of the 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. ET. Those looking to prepare in advance for the afternoon and evening full of great food might want to check out the Daytona 5K Run and Fun Walk on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. ET.
On-track action begins Thursday morning with practice for the Rolex Series, the Ferrari Challenge and the Continental Tire Challenge, followed by qualifying for all three series in the afternoon. There will be more practice and qualifying on Friday, as well as the first Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend at 11:45 a.m. ET and the Continental Tire Challenge GRAND-AM 200, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. The second Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend goes green at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday morning, followed by the start of the Rolex 24 at 3:30 p.m. ET. For the complete weekend schedule, click here.
Tickets for the Rolex 24 at Daytona are still available – four-day passes – including infield and general admission grandstands access, daily garage and Sprint FANZONE access and Budweiser Party porch access on Saturday – are just $85, and kids 12 and under are admitted free all weekend.
