Chicagoland Speedway hosts the first race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup, the Geico 400, on Sunday, September 15th. Also on the schedule are the Nationwide Series, racing on Saturday, September 14th and the Camping World Truck Series on Friday, September 13th.
On Thursday, September 12th, NASCAR Contenders Live kicks off the Chase for the Cup at 1:30 p.m. CT at Chicago’s Navy Pier. Doors for the event, featuring the 12 eligible Chase drivers, open at 12:30 p.m. CT – tickets start at just $10 and are available here.
Also on Thursday, downtown Joliet, Illinois hosts Race Fan Rally from 4 to 10 p.m. CT. Taking place on Chicago St. between Jefferson and Cass Sts., Race Fan Rally kicks off with the NASCAR Hauler Parade at 5 p.m. CT, and will feature live music, driver appearances and question-and-answer sessions and an event-closing fireworks ceremony at 9:45 p.m. CT. Sunday’s pre-race concert will feature rising country star Brantley Gilbert, and the National Anthem will be performed by 2013 winner of “The Voice,” Danielle Bradbery. A Pit and Infield Fan Zone Experience Pass will allow access to the grass area for the Brantley Gilbert concert – get them here.
Grandstands open Friday at 8 a.m. CT, with Truck Series practice kicking off on-track activities at 9 and 11 a.m. CT. Cup Series practice at noon CT and Nationwide Series practice at 1:40 p.m. CT precedes Truck Series qualifying at 3:05 p.m. CT. Qualifying for the Cup Series follows at 4:10 p.m. CT, and the final Nationwide Series practice gets underway at 5:35 p.m. CT. At 7:30 p.m. CT, the EnjoyIllinois.com 225 for the Camping World Truck Series goes green.
On Saturday, grandstands open at 9 a.m. CT, with Cup Series practice at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT, sandwiched around Nationwide Series qualifying at 11:05 a.m. CT. The Dollar General 300 Powered by Coca Cola for the Nationwide Series takes the green flag at 2:30 p.m. CT.
On Sunday, grandstands open at 9 a.m. CT, with Brantley Gilbert taking the stage for his pre-race concert at 11 a.m. CT. The Geico 400 for the Sprint Cup Series goes green at 1 p.m. CT.
