Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts the fifth race in the 2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup, the Bank of America 500, on Saturday night, October 12th. The stars of the Cup Series will be joined by the drivers of the Nationwide Series, who race Friday night, October 11th, and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour, who will race on the quarter-mile frontstretch track on Thursday night, October 10th.
Fans in town early have plenty of things to keep them busy throughout the week – remember to check the website of your favorite NASCAR teams to see what’s going on at the shops. There’s also plenty going on at the track throughout the week, starting with practice and qualifying for the Better-Half Dash charity race on Monday, October 7th from 6 to 9 p.m. ET. On Tuesday, October 8th, Charlotte’s sister track, zMAX Dragway, hosts NASCAR Night from 5 to 9 p.m. ET. Find out more about these events and others here.
On Thursday, the Modifieds practice at 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET. The Nationwide Series practices at 2 and 6:10 p.m. ET, with the Cup Series on track for practice at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Modifieds qualify at 5:05 p.m. ET, and the Better-Half Dash goes green at 5:30 p.m. ET. Cup Series qualifying takes place at 7:10 p.m. ET, followed by the green flag for the UNOH Southern Slam 150 for the Whelen Southern Modified Tour at 8:30 p.m. ET.
On Friday, Cup Series practice is on track at 3 and 5:50 p.m. ET, sandwiching Nationwide Series qualifying at 4:05 p.m. ET; the Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 goes green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
On Saturday, there is a Speedway Children’s Charities Track Walk at 1:20 p.m. ET – find out more about it here. Pre-race, there’s a concert by the Goo Goo Dolls and Paper Tounges at 5:40 p.m. ET, followed by Nik Wallenda’s pre-race tightrope walk at 6:40 p.m. ET. The Bank of America 500 goes green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
