Did you know that approximately fifteen percent of American citizens proudly trace their ancestry to the Emerald Isle?

The Irish have influenced this country for hundreds of years so it should come as no surprise to find Irish culture and customs around every corner.

Fortunately for the other eighty-five percent of the population, the Irish are a big-hearted bunch and when it comes to celebrating, encourage people of all cultures to discover the Celtic within.

Hermosa Beach celebrates all things Irish at the 19 Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 16.

Sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, the parade begins at 11 a.m. at the staging area near City Hall on Valley Drive.

The route makes a left onto Pier Avenue and ends at the corner of Hermosa Avenue and 10 street.

The Wearing of the Green is a time-honored tradition. Don’t be surprised to find yourself ordering corned beef hash, savoring a pint of Guiness, singing Danny Boy and kissing perfect strangers.

Ya gotta love the Irish.
