The Interview
Examiner.com met with Head & Shoulders celebrity stylist, Sunnie Brook Jones, to learn about the new Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue regimen and overall damage repair and prevention. Here are the questions that were posed to her.

Examiner: How long have you been doing this job?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “I have been a hair stylist for 15 years, but this is my second year with the Head & Shoulders brand. They are the #1 best selling shampoo in the world and given that 50% of people have dandruff, I love the problem-solving aspect of working with the brand.

Examiner: What was the most difficult hair that you have worked with?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “Some of the main issues that I deal with everyday are damaged hair; the most important thing with hair is that integrity of it is maintained. Healthy hair is always going to look good no matter the style; it’s healthy so you are drawn to it because you think it is attractive. So, when I have someone with damaged hair, it is challenging. It’s like I ‘m doing surgery on somebody…where if it is healthy I can explore more options and celebrate a lot more looks.”

Examiner: What are some of the factors which can be damaging to the hair?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “Using heat styling tools such as curling irons and blow dryers, constantly scratching your head, going to bed with their hair wet, and exposure to chlorinated water most definitely effects the integrity of the hair as it causes damage.”

Examiner: What advice would you provide for daily or weekly maintenance incorporating Head & Shoulders?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “I would definitely recommend Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue After just 4 washes, your hair is 10 times stronger. It acts like a shield to damaging factors that break down the hair’s structure. Definitely shampoo & condition every day with Damage Rescue, which is just like your little armor for the hair.”

Examiner: Do you have any special tips and pointers about using Head & Shoulders?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “You must definitely use the shampoo and conditioner together and you can’t swap one or the other out, they are a partnership and they work together. So if you use something else you must be washing away everything else that’s on your head. You definitely want to make sure that you are applying the product from scalp to ends. Be certain to apply the product all over the head and take the time to make sure it is evenly distributed.”

Examiner: What motivated you to get into cosmetology?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “There were two things, one was a conversation with my dad, which we would have often…What do want to with your life? At the time, the only thing that I could tell my dad was I want to help people and I want to be creative. So how do you get a job doing that?...that’s not really a career. But my mom always told me about cosmetology school. When I went to beauty school, I was able to work with cosmetics and hair and really loved helping people to look their best.

Examiner: What was your most exciting experience that you have had in the beauty industry?
Sunnie Brook Jones: “Working in a music video with Lana Del Rey, Summertime Sadness. Also, I loved working with Ben Harper, Usher, Orlando Pita, and Robert Romanus. I worked with Robert for 5 years.”
