The band posted this message on their Facebook page, late this afternoon 11/13:
Sorry Boston. HMBSMS will not be performing tonight. We have a sick member who needs a night to recover. The show is still happening and will be an awesome night of music, just without us. All other shows are still on. Sorry for any inconvenience. Hope you have a great night either way.
The eclectic and energizing band He's My Brother, She's My Sister comes to the Great Scott on Commonwealth Ave. in Allston on Wednesday November 13th for a 9:00PM show. The band consists of five members: Rachel Kolar (Vocals & Percussion), Rob Kolar (Vocals & Guitar), Lauren Brown (Tap Dancing Drummer), Oliver 'Oliwa' Newell (Upright Bass), and Ryan Richter (Slide Guitar).
Their debut album 'Nobody Dances in This Town' was released October 9, 2012. Self-described as 'glam-a-billy', the band is a melting pot of country, pop, folk, and yes, even cabaret. The band hails from California, and has supported Neko Case and Buddy Guy during a two-day blues festival earlier this year.
Rob Kolar remarks about their style of music as "I've come up with a few [descriptions], we say glam-a-billy, vaudeville blues, flamboyant folk. There's a little bit of psychedelia, I haven't thought of a good one for psychedelic. If I could somehow fuse the words country and psychedelia, I would do it, but that seems far-fetched. They're pretty different words."
