HBO sets premiere date for 'Eastbound and Down' Season 3 and 'Life's Too Short'

HBO announced Tuesday (November 29) the February 2012 premiere date for two series: returning comedy "Eastbound and Down" and Ricky Gervais' "Life's Too Short."

Season 3 of Danny McBride's "Eastbound and Down" will premiere Sunday, February 19 at 10/9c followed by Gervais and Stephen Merchant's latest mockumentary series "Life's Too Short."

The sitcom, which premiered on BBC Two earlier this month, stars "Harry Potter" actor Warwick Davis as a fictionalized version of himself: a "showbiz dwarf" who is desperate to claw his way back into the spotlight.

The seven-episode first season will feature cameo appearances by Johnny Depp, Sting and Steve Carell, among others.

Gervais, who appears as himself in the show alongside Merchant, will have time to promote the new series stateside during his third time as host of the Golden Globe Awards in January on NBC.

Meanwhile, the eight-episode third season of "Eastbound and Down," which is likely to be the show's last, will follow McBride's Kenny Powers as he juggles becoming a father with getting another shot at the majors via a minor league team in Myrtle Beach.

The comedies will air behind the David Milch-created "Luck," which debuts Sunday, January 29. A sneak preview of the new Dustin Hoffman-led horse-racing drama will air following the Season 2 finale of "Boardwalk Empire" on December 11.

"Luck" follows a range of characters that frequent the same horse-racing track, with Hoffman playing a gambling-addicted man in his 60s who was recently released from prison after a four-year stint.

The network previously announced that animated comedy "The Life & Times of Tim" will return for a third season on Friday, December 16 at 9/8c, while Australian mockumentary series "Angry Boys" will debut on New Year's Day.
