Today Deadline.com is reporting that Jerry Weintraub Productions and Everyman Pictures have been given the green light to begin production on the HBO series pilot episode of the epic dark comedy titled "The Brink". The Primetime Emmy Award winning casting director is now casting co-starring and possible recurring roles. The auditions are being held in Los Angeles, where shooting will take place beginning January, 2014. The general extras, featured background actors, and stand-ins will be hired throughout production. "The Brink" is based on J.C. Hutchins and Jordan Weisman’s book Personal Effects: Dark Art.
The series focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander, a man of big appetites and little patience for the war mongers in the Situation Room; Alex Coppins, a lowly Foreign Service officer reluctantly caught on the ground in the middle of it all; and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan. These three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War III.
Starring in "The Brink" is Academy Award winner Tim Robbins playing the role of U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander, two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Jack Black as Foreign Service officer Alex Coppins, ALMA Award nominee Esai Morales as President of the United States Julian Navarro, and Tony Award nominee Pablo Schreiber in the role of ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan. Other cast members include Gotham Awards nominee Aasif Mandvi, Geoffrey Pierson, Mimi Kennedy, Maribeth Monroe, and Ryan Cutrona.
