HBO announces return of 'Game of Thrones' for fourth season after high ratings

Game of Thrones” entered its third season and only two days into the kick-off, HBO announced the fantasy series would be returning for a fourth.

The “Game of Thrones” show has stats that have astounded scorekeepers with 4.4 million viewers for the premiere that aired last Sunday. The increase of 13 percent from the first episode of Season 2 has shown the series is worth keeping on the air. Over three airings, the third season premiere brought in a whopping 6.7 million viewers.

If you have not watched the series yet, it is a must see. All those viewers can’t be wrong. The bloody epic has TV viewers foaming at the mouth for the next episode. Tyrion Lannister was left on Sunday with still no respect from his father and the battle between man and dragon never gets old. Jon Snow has headed for the wildlings and all the action just keeps getting better.

The record ratings, at least for the premiere of the new season, shows a promise the series will continue. The sets are amazing and the acting profound. Based on the novel, “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R. R. Martin, the series was created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The series first aired on HBO in the U.S. on April 17, 2011.

The series is based on the fantasy continents of Westeros and Essos, at the end of a 10-year-long summer. Several plot lines take place during the episodes. The civil war for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms continues, as the rising threat in impending winter weather and creatures of the North come forth to make life more difficult. Sexuality, crime and punishment, civil war and religion are all covered under the big budget to bring viewers the best of the best in fantasy television shows.
