A few notes from this weekend's games:
...D.J. Williams threw for 265 yards and five touchdowns to give Grambling State its first victory of the season, 47-40, over Mississippi Valley State.
...Bethune-Cookman's Isidore Jackson rushed for 182 yards in the Wildcats' 38-24 win over North Carolina Central. Jackson passed Allen Suber as the university's all-time leading rusher with 2,978 yards. Suber compiled 2,897 yards from 200-2003.
...Freshman quarterback Mark Wright completed 19 of 29 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 135 yards and two scores to help NAIA Langston edge Panhandle State, an NCAA Division II school.
...Eddie Poole caught a pass in his 44th straight game for Bethune-Cookman, passing James Adderley's mark of 43, set from 1994-1998.
...Justin Forte and Drew Powell combined for 53 rushes and 264 yards in Fayetteville State's 34-31 win against Livingstone. Forte had 137 yards on 34 carries, while Powell collected 127 yards with 19 carries.
...Bowie State broke a school record for first downs in a game with 27 in its 76-19 destruction of CIAA foe Lincoln (Pa.). The old mark was 25 set against St. Paul's back in 1982.
...Hard as it may be to believe, Bowie State's 76 points against Lincoln was only its second highest in school history. The highest was 83 points against Fairleigh Dickinson back in 1975)
