Hawks thump Magic to enter All-Star Break

The Hawks wasted no time getting out to a big lead against Orlando Wednesday night, in what could be the last appearance by Josh Smith in a Hawks uniform.

Smith dropped 30 points on 13-20 shooting from the floor, and added 10 rebounds in a 108-76 rout in Orlando. With the trade deadline coming immediately after the All-Star break, it would make for a heck of a final game by Smith as a Hawk should a deal come to pass.

Al Horford added 26 points, on 11-16 shooting, and 12 rebounds. First-round pick John Jenkins also brought a spark, hitting all three of his three-point attempts and seeing 24 minutes of court time.

The win put the Hawks at a respectable 29-22 record heading into the break.

PG Jameer Nelson and F Andrew Nicholson were the only Magic players to break into double-digits, scoring 10 points apiece. The Hawks were up by 21 at the half and never let Orlando get anything going offensively.

The Magic, now 15-37, were also without Hedo Torkoglu, who was suspended by the NBA for ingesting steroids. Turkoglu will be out for the next 20 games, and will not return until the end of March.

The Hawks now get six days off before their next game - except for Jeff Teague, who will partake in the Taco Bell Skills challenge this weekend. When the Miami heat come to town next Wednesday, it'll be interesting to see who suits for Atlanta and who has been dealt.
