With the loss, the Hawks ended their preseason with a 1-6 record, their sole victory coming on a last second play over the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Hawks were without Al Horford (right hamstring), Paul Miillsap (left Achilles tendon), Kyle Korver (personal reasons), Gustavo Ayon (shoulder surgery), and Lou Williams (ACL recovery). DeMarre Carroll, Jeff Teague, and Royal Ivey all got a DNP - Coach's Decision.
Dennis Schroeder led the hawks in scoring with 21 points, while Mike Scott added 19. Elton Brand, returning to where he spent last season, had seven points and six rebounds in 28 minutes.
Horford, Korver, and Millsap are expected to be ready for the opener. Ayon will be out until the end of November, while William's return is still unclear as he continues to recover from ACL surgery last December.
The Hawks had three more roster cuts to make by Monday in order to get down to their regular season roster size of 15 players. One of those cuts has already been made, as the Hawks waived F James Johnson after the game. Two more players will be waived or assigned by Monday, as the Hawks kick off their regular-season schedule on Wednesday against these same Mavericks in Dallas.
