Hawks fall on road to Knicks' blistering long-distance attack

It is very rare that a team will make sixty percent of its shots and LOSE. However, that is exactly what happened to the Hawks on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden to the Knicks, 106-104.

The Knicks were no slouches themselves, making 54% of their shots - but the made 59% of their three-point shots. Carmelo Anthony was on fire, making nine three-pointers and finishing with 42 points to lead all players. With twelve seconds left, he also made a three-point play that clinched the victory.

Al Horford was perfect from the floor, making all eight shots and finishing with 16 points. Jeff Teague (27 points) and Josh Smith (20 points) also keyed the Hawks' shooting attack. DeShawn Stevenson had 15 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting.

Unfortunately, the Hawks had 19 turnovers on the night, and could not shut down the Knicks' outside shooting. Apparently the team used up all its luck Friday night in pulling out a double-overtime win against Boston.

The loss drops Atlanta to 25-19 on the season. They will next face Toronto at Philips Arena on Wednesday.
