The Atlanta Hawks decided to waive two more players in order to set its final regular season roster last night.
The club announced via press release that G Royal Ivey and PF Eric Dawson have been placed on waivers, thus bringing the Hawks' roster to the league-mandated 15 players in preparation for the regular season. The Hawks open their 2013-14 season against the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas on Wednesday.
Dawson and Ivey each appeared in three of the Hawks' preseason contests.
Ivey had been held out of the Hawks' last preseason game with a "DNP - Coach's Decision". He last polayed on October 22 against Indiana, and went 0-4 with four fouls and three turnovers in 10 miunutes of action. He had been drafted by Atlanta in 2004 and spent his first three years in a Hawks uniform, but will not be on the team's roster this season. The team has decided instead to keep Shelvin Mack for a reserve backcourt spot. Mack was signed halfway through last season and sdid well in a limited reserve role.
Dawson played and went 3-4 from the floor for 6 points and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes. However, the team decided instead to keep Cartier Martin, who spent part of last season playing for Washington.
