The Atlanta Hawks have waived three players from their preseason roster, as they attempt to mold together a comeptitive team for the 2013-14 season.
In a press release this morning, the club announced that David Lighty, Adonis Thomas, and Damien Wilkins have been waived, bringing the club-s preseason roster down to 17 players. Two more players (assuming no more additions) will need to be moved or assigned prior to the commencement of the regular season.
Wilkins, who has been on the Hawks' regular season roster in past years, is the nephew of Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins and appeared in two preseason games. In Sunday's 105-73 loss to the Pelicans, Wilkins played 16 minutes, going 0-3 from the floor with three turnovers. In last week's 87-85 win over Charlotte, Wilkins went 0-6 from the floor in 15 minutes. He had spent last season in Philadelphia.
Lighty played ten minutes against Charlotte, going 0-2 from the floor with two assists and a turnover. He played at Ohio State until 2011, and had played overseas since then.
Thomas appeared only in yesterday's game, and shot 1-6 from the floor with one rebound and no assists. He left Memphis after playing there for two seasons, but went undrafted and signed with the hawks last month.
The Hawks' next preseason game will be Thursday night at Philips Arena against the San Antonio Spurs.
