Hawaiian Islands: A golfer's vacation paradise (Photos)

You can walk in the footsteps of the world's greatest golfers, as Hawaii offers world class PGA Championship Tour golf courses on several Islands. The outstanding Hawaiian Islands golf courses featured, are only a one-hour flight from Oahu, making it a perfect day trip to a golf outing.

Kauai Lagoons golf courses are located on the island of Kauai, and is on a 750-acre resort in the southwest corner of the island. The course is a five minutes drive from the Lihue Airport and a quick one hour flight from Oahu. It is said that when legendary golfer and architect Jack Nicklaus created the original Kiele Course at Lagoons in the late 1980's, the terrain lent itself so well to his vision. In 2011, Jack Nicklaus was again called upon for redesign upgrade which includes new greens, new white silica sand bunkers, and three new holes. The new ocean side hole that is now the centerpiece of what is the longest stretch of continuous ocean holes of any course in Hawaii.

Kapalua Plantation golf course on Maui, is home to the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions. The course ranks among the world’s greatest courses with breathtaking views and dramatic elevation changes, it makes for a great test of your skills and experience and is a great opportunity to take on a PGA championship golf excursion at its finest Experience the opportunity to play the same par 73, 7,411-yard course as many of golf’s greats.

Koele golf course on the island of Lanai, is a 7,014-yard, par 72 championship course, designed by Greg Norman and Ted Robinson conserves as many native plants as possible while creating a worthy field. Playing a round at Koele ensures you will take home bragging rights, regardless of your score. With a magnificent sprawling ocean view, the course delivers a staggering finish. A 250-foot drop from the signature seventeenth hole to the deepest ravine on Lanai.

Turtle Bay golf course is located on the North Shore of Oahu, and features acres of breathtaking coastline ocean view. The Arnold Palmer championship golf course will test all of your skills if played from the tips, but five sets of tees make it accessible for most any skill set. No. 17 is the signature hole, nine bunkers surround the landing area and extend to the green, which sits on a plateau by the ocean.

Mauna Kea golf course is located on the Big Island, in a word, it is spectacular! If heaven were a golf course, this is the model. Designed in 1964 Mauna Kea still leads the way in standards of course beauty and design, keeping its place in Hawaii's history as one of the most scenic and favored golf courses.
