Having Confidence

Confidence is always good to have. However the problem with confidence is not how much but where we focus it. Is our confidence in self or in other things?

In Matthew 26:33-35 we have Peter's conversation with Christ concerning denial. What we see is Peter's confidence in self ability and not in Christ. Despite what Christ told Peter in verse 34, Peter was still confident in his own ability that he would not deny the Lord. The result of his type of confidence is found in Matthew 26:75 which illustrates sorrow, guilt and shame.

How many of us mess up our lives because our confidence is in self ability and not in Christ? How many times do we take ourselves into heartaches and crisis situations because we don't listen to the Lord? How many times do we tell the Lord that He is wrong just like Peter implied in Matthew 26:35?

When are we going to stop second guessing the Lord and start trusting Him? How many times will we recycle ourselves through the same old problems because of confidence in self ability instead of Christ and His leading?

Cut down on mistakes, regrets, guilt and shame by listening more to the Lord instead of self. Learn the voice of the Holy Spirit. He will lead you into all truth concerning all situations in life (John 16:13).

Gain confidence in the Lord by obeying His Word. Proverbs 3:5-7 says: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes but fear the Lord and depart from evil."

What is Proverbs 3:5-7 talking about? It's talking about confidence in Christ!
