Yes. You may have heard singing in the subway ... or maybe outside of your local Starbucks, or ... Have you heard? It's Opera Week in Chicago!
Mayor Daley has proclaimed the week of October 29th - November 7th National Opera Week. Sponsored by Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs for the second year now, this has become a favorite.
The week includes presentations of the popular “Pop-Up Opera” all around Chicago. What is "Pop-Up Opera"? Why, it's a serendipitous occurence of spontaneous singing -- a bursting into song by the best -- at any time -- anywhere (short performances of opera classics).
WHY? All the world is a stage -- imagine!
