Have you been naughty or nice?

It’s Christmas time…a time of joy, peace, love and happiness right? Well it should be at least but most of the time it’s just people behaving badly. Feelings get hurt, attitudes rage and tempers fly. Some forget what the season is all about and act like the world revolves around them. And there is little more that will ruin any relationship faster then being immature, selfish and having an all about you attitude. People tend to block out everything else going on and only see how things affect them. There is always more than one side to every situation. Perhaps you’re not getting what you want or things aren’t going exactly how you’d planned…so what? Who made you the end all of everything? The holidays are chock full of stressors and situations gone wrong. Life isn’t perfect. Christmas is about giving, so how about giving everyone a break?

Everyone is stressed at Christmas. We get it. You’re juggling work, friends, holiday parties, shopping, wrapping and family functions. But that doesn’t mean you get a free pass to show your ass. Calm down already and spread a little freaking Christmas joy. Doesn’t matter if it’s your friends, your significant other or your family…give them ALL a break! There’s nothing worse than a ranting spoiled brat around to ruin Christmas.

So what can you do? You don’t want to be the abominable ice queen. First, relax. Know that something you planned will indeed go wrong. It’s ok. You can still have a Merry Christmas. You just have to know how to handle things and move on. So, your boyfriend can’t make it to your Christmas dinner because he wants to spend it at his own family’s house…is that really a reason to blow your top? No, of course not. Sure, it’s disappointing, especially if you’ve built up an evening of grandeur with them in your mind, but you can meet and share Christmas some other time. Perhaps you can do breakfast or lunch or even share a moment on Christmas Eve. The point is, is that you can easily find ways to cut the stress and find alternatives to screaming and yelling and behaving like an idiot when things don’t go your way. It’s all in how you look at things. Relax and actually enjoy yourself for once…it is the season to be merry after all!
