Have Cabin Fever? Try a Wine and Food Pairing Workshop on Tuesday

If the blizzard trapped you at home and you need to get out, The Kitchen at Billings Forge has a few openings in their Wine and Food Pairing Workshop on Tuesday evening starting at 5:30pm. The cost is $50 per person and you can register through EventBrite or by calling them directly at 860.727.8752.

Resident expert Julie Carrion will take you on a tour of the most popular varieties of grapes that provide some of the world’s most sought after wines. The selections will be from regions throughout the world that are highly respected for producing trademark wines.

In addition to tasting the featured wines, you will learn about what to look for when tasting wine; basic rules of thumb about matching food and wine; and taste for yourself what makes a wine really sing! This class is a tasting workshop, not a cooking class, so you will meet in their café space to experiment with taste and flavor.

If coffee and pastry is more your style, you can plan a late Valentine's date on Sunday with their Breakfast Pastries class. From 1:00pm to 3:00pm, instructors Chris Gallagher and Becky McGuigan will show you how to make pastries you can easily freeze and have at the ready for a slow morning with the newspaper, or a weekend with guests. Learn how to pair scones, rolled brioche pastries, and quickbreads with the flavors of different coffee blends.

Taste each perfect match for yourself, uniting The Kitchen's unique breakfast pastries with locally roasted coffee from Bean & Leaf in this for a fun and informative class. The cost is $45 per person, and again you can register through Eventbrite or by calling The Kitchen directly at 860.727.8752.
