Your Facebook friends list may be populated with a lot of giraffes lately. What this actually means is that they incorrectly answered a riddle, and their penalty was to change their profile photo to a giraffe. According to an Oct. 28 article on the Chicago Tribune, the actual answer to the riddle is still up for debate, but it appears that many folks didn’t guess either possible correct answer. Here’s the riddle:
It’s 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It’s your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"
There are actually two answers, so you could potentially appeal the decision if you are sentenced to a long-necked avatar. The problem may be that nobody really knows who the Giraffe Judge is either.
Did you get the right answer? This is kind of a new social media phenomenon, and from the amount of giraffes showing up, people are definitely participating in the riddle. Oddly, given the unofficial nature of the riddle challenge, it is still spreading rapidly.
Another odd aspect of this thing is that the answer(s) are widely available online, but people are still getting it wrong, witnessed by the number of giraffe heads present. So, that may actually speak to the honesty of people on Facebook. Those of you who are not so honest, scroll down for the answer(s).
Answer is either door or eyes…
