Have A Stupid Boss? (Video)

There is not an easy way to do anything worth doing correctly. You may quote me on that. Here let’s make it easy for you:

The easy article for me to write this week is about your career plan for this upcoming year. The actions and steps you must take now to make this happen. And more…maybe next week. This article is about you and how you feel about your boss. It is for anyone at any level at any size organization.

Do you know if you type into a google search – “How To Tell Your Boss They Are Stupid” The return is 335,000,000 results! Maybe we are onto something here? The starting point might be the thought. Is it possible we just don’t know the ‘big picture’ and this makes it appear that the ‘boss’ does not know what is going on? Or is the reality, this is a fairy tale to keep the masses guessing, at any level in any organization which insulates the boss from the need to have a working intellectual mind?

The next point might be a quick analysis of your current options. The choices are fairly clear. Look for a new job outside of the current organization, seek a new role within your current organization as far away from your current boss as possible, bring a half of a fresh lemon to work each day and suck on it directly first thing in the morning then drink water through the day and you will eventually smile and feel better, do nothing or learn how to deal with and work with your boss.

Let’s examine the last one. However, if you feel so inclined and at your own risk, feel free to work on any of the other options. Seriously, how bad can it be? Hint, Hint, use the comment area and tell me your tale of woe, we all want to hear your story!

Do You Know Your Boss? Your boss is a person, what are they interested in? What drives them? What do they care about? If you were able to zone in on these areas and then become a resource to feed this passion or interest level at some level for your boss, you might find your working relationship to go smoother and learn there was more there than you originally thought. Some examples might be their family or vacations or certain types of reading material.

If you feel your boss is stupid, is it possible you are the problem? Of course not! So we are all intellectually smarter than our boss. We do not understand how in the world they are in the position they are in. If we push these facts in their face each and every day we will find ourselves out the door really fast.

Instead utilize the advantages you know you have to ‘team’ up with your boss up the ladder to the next level or higher. You take the lead and compliment without gagging, while clearly presenting and guiding the discussion. Do this often enough around the right people and you will be promoted away from your current situation.

Life is too short to allow ourselves to be held back from where we see ourselves going. How we handle the movement to where we want to go will make all the difference in how fast or if we ever get there.
