Westminster Abbey is a great place to start a tour of the city. It has been the site of all royal coronations since 1066 and is controlled by the Crown instead of the Church of England. It was also the scene of the funeral of Princess Diana. The Houses of Parliament, also know as Westminster Palace, contain two Parliamentary houses, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Its famous clock tower is known to the world as “Big Ben.” Close-by is 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s headquarters, where an influential political network lies behind its doors.

The Tower of London houses the Crown Jewels which are guarded by the “Beefeaters”. While tourists can visit Buckingham Palace only two months of the year, but can still view the “Changing of the Guard” that takes place daily. Other attractions include afternoon teas and pubs almost everywhere, museums, art, parks, cycling, theatres, cathedrals, and let’s not forget shopping as well.

Another must do, though, is the London Eye – its 360 degree views of the city are breathtaking. All the information needed for a fantastic London vacation can be found on London’s official tourist website.
